Classics and Special Editions

In this line up we will feature some of BCI/Eclipses cult classic titles and Special Editions. Some of the titles you will see were released as single issues before getting a "special" treatment, that is, either restored prints or added bonus features. In some cases, it is the only available version and so what you see is what you get. Regardless of the presentation it is given, fans and collectors will enjoy every last drop of their cult classic favorites. Here are some of what I thought exemplified the classics and special features from the BCI catalog.

CLASSICS

This short list includes the craptacular MITCHELL with Joe Don Baker and you will also see FIGHTING MAD with Peter Fonda, another wonderful slice of cult crappic cinema. There is the little known sequel to the world of Patton with George C. Scott reprising his Academy Award Winning role. And who could forget the grueling and torturous BLACK GESTAPO.

In addition are lesser known titles like DIE, SISTER DIE or THE GIRLS ROOM. You will also see films like SWAMP WOMEN and STOMPING ON THE YARD. These are films that are just taken from original ideas and changed a single note to make it their own (think Vanilla Ice and his song Ice Ice Baby).

Also, BCI has been taking more chances by including such controversial titles like 638 WAYS TO KILL CASTRO which no distributor wanted to touch until BCI stepped in.

SPECIAL EDITIONS

Not every title in this collection deserves the merit or treatment it gets, however, some are fortunate to get any treatment. Titles like Galaxina which features the fated, but eternally gorgeous Dorothy Stratten in a role that limited her speaking, moving and even her sexuality to some degree. It is nevertheless an interesting footnote in the sexy-sci-fi world and gets treated on a silver platter here. Titles that are immediately popular are SAVAGE STREETS, which was a huge success both theatrically and critially. Here is the second release of the DVD with restored presentation and plenty of bonus features. Sadly, this was only available for a short time as it was released late in 2008, only to be discontinued a few months later. Another title, STANLEY, which was released at a similar time as SAVAGE STREETS, got a similar treatment, but reviews are not as plentiful or well received. Films like OUR BURDEN IS LIGHT and THAT'S THE WAY OF THE WORLD are special to certain people who loved it at the time of its release. The sentiment does not seem to have been picked up by later generations, however, these presentations at least do it justice. GONE IN 60 SECONDS is a car chase wet dream. I remember seeing that on a chance rental with some friends and ended up loving it! It was mad as the last hour of the film was a long chase scene destroying hundreds of cars in the process. Its beauty and mayhem rolled into one. This also available for PSP. I think the license plate edition is a limited version. The director. star and owner of that famous car (Elanor) from the film is HB Toby Halicki. He has since died while making another sequel of sorts and his wife Denice has taken over the estate (and she is kinda hot).

MISCELLANEOUS

Ok, these are titles that did not seem to have a place in my organization of the BCI titles because they did not seem to belong to any particular series, nor are they classic in their own right, but are interesting in their own right. The STRIP POKER with Carmen Elektra seems a desperate job on Carmen'spart, but I always found her nice to look at in any state of undress. While the iPod DVD seems to me something totally useless, but maybe not, I have not seen it. But the idea of is silly and so I wanted to make it known. If anyone has seen this, let us know in the forum how the quality of the DVD and how well the information is presented.

Thats all for this list. Check back in a few days for the next list of BCI titles.
