Early Peter Sellers and Anchor Bay discontinued
It looks like some of the Peter Sellers Collection from Anchor Bay are being discontinued. Two are listed in this list, but it could be sign of his other films being pulled soon. There is no order to this list, but I left commentary for some of the titles that I felt might be useful.
Opera - This is the single disc edition which is still available. It will be re-released by Blue Underground later this month.
Demons - This classic horror from Dario Argento is being discontinued, although it is still available. It appears that Anchor Bay is re-releasing this title with a different cover. It does not appear any major changes in the works in terms of extras.
Mountain of the Cannibal God - The classic cannibal film starring James Bond girl Ursula Andress. In this film she waks around the jungle half naked most of the time. While not always a great film, it is a great watch. Classic stuff! This film has had multiple casualties under various names. But Anchor Bay has put out the best version to date. It is, unfortunately, being discontinued. But who is there to save the day? Blue Underground of course! They are planning a re-release later this month.
A Blade In The Dark - The Lamberto Bava horror film released from Anchor Bay is discontinued to be re-released from Blue Underground in late October.
Hell of the Living Dead - Italian horror director Bruno Mattei serves up this zombie classic. Although still available, it is being discontinued, but only to be re-released by Blue Underground.
Manhattan Baby - Once again, another Italian cinema maestreo, Lucio Fulci, has a film from Anchor Bay being discontinued only for an October re-release by Blue Underground. Stage Fright - Relatively unknown Italian director Michele Soavi who is probably best known for his modern great horror Cemetery Man, produced this film as his first entry into the film world. No re-release on this title, but it does appear readily available.
Demons 2 - The Nightmare Returns - Lamberto Bava's sequel to the original is being discontinued, but re-released with a different cover from Anchor Bay later this month.
Masters of Horror: Landis & McKee - This appears to be a side-by-side edition. There is also a single disc version which features both of the features here. With the release of the
Masters of Horror: Season One Box Set, it is doubtful we will see this particular style again and there is no reason to do so.
My Big Fat Independent Movie - This is for the UMD version only.
Smallest Show on Earth - One of the films from The Peter Sellers Collection from 1957, which is currently showing delayed shipping.
Two Way Stretch - Another Peter Sellers film from 1960. At this writing it is in stock.
Hell is a City - Early British type of noir released by the Hammer Collection back in 1960.
Mad Mission - Low budget spoof's on the Bond and Mission Impossible series.
Mad Mission, Part 2: Aces Go Places - Continuing adventures.
Mad Mission 3 - Our Man from Bond Street - A third part.
Mad Mission Collection - A complete collection of all of the above at a great third party press! Check them out.
Madman - An 80's slasher film that was received well from audiences. Not the most popular, but remembered well. Currently out of print and has some good demand to it.
The Vengeance of She - We have mentioned this one before, but this is one of the tribal films from the Hammer Collection. This film is actually taken from H. Rider Haggard's book of the same name. It is a sequel from his more famous novel "She" which was just released on DVD by Kino Video under the title She (Deluxe Two Disc Edition). Both deal with Islamic occultism and magic. Vengeance of She also features sexy women in many states of undress.
The Last Flight of Noah's Ark - Original release by Anchor Bay from the Disney catalog. While retaining some popularity, Disney has since rekindled their catalog and re-released this title, which is currently available.
The Exterminator - An early action film about a man who cleans up the city with his flame thrower. Low budget, hard acting and all guts makes this a classic in the genre.
Schlock - John Landis' first film which is a spoof on many films of the era. This DVD has been discontinued for some time and no re-release in sight. Even the VHS is rare and worth checking out.
The Viking Queen - An original Hammer Collection piece. We have mentioned it before, but it was listed in the recent lists, so I thought I would present here again. Hammer always has a strong following and some go unnoticed for a time. This was re-released in the Limited Edition double feature pack also by Anchor Bay under the title The Vengeance of She/The Viking Queen.
Prehistoric Women - Another classic Hammer Collection DVD using women as the main point of the feature. This DVD is also available under the limited edition double feature billing: Prehistoric Women/The Witches.
Ring of Bright Water - This has been discontinued for some time and is still getting some good demand. Although MGM has since re-released this title leaving the original for OOP Collectors and Anchor Bay fans.
Moll Flanders - Once a hot title has dwindled some of its demand since it has been re-released.
Custer of the West - A late 60's Western no longer available. Yet has been re-released by MGM in their Western Legends series.
The Message - The classic and controversial film starring Anthony Quinn about the life of Mohammed. The original release is out of print, but has been re-released in a 30th Anniversary Edition from Anchor Bay in a 2--disc set.
Please Not Now! - An early sexy Brigitte Bardot films. Although a new collection has been re-released, this DVD remains out of print. Come Dance With Me - Released along with the other Bardot titles, but has been discontinued. This film has been re-released in the 3-disc Bridgitte Bardot Collection.
Bluebeard - Currently a very hard to find DVD. A classic thriller starring Richard Burton and Raquel Welch. Even the VHS is getting some good bucks.
Spontaneous Combustion - One of Tobe Hooper's less famous works, but nonetheless and curious piece of modern horror. This has been re-released in the Drive-In Double Feature.
Halloween - Although this film has been double, triple, quadruple, quinduble, sextaruble-dipped, Halloween and Anchor Bay are married. With it, you get all the variations possible. This is the theaterical version.
